Our Alvechurch Nursery

Our nursery is conveniently situated within 30 minutes of Birmingham city centre, just 2 minutes from junction 2 off the M42 in the beautiful village of Alvechurch.

The nursery operates from a grand, spacious, white house overlooking stunning views of rolling fields. The nursery comprises 8 main play rooms; upstairs there are small numbers of children in each of the baby rooms and as the children become mobile and more active the rooms downstairs lend themselves to being more structured to help the children’s ever growing needs and their progression in learning and development.

The nursery has two secure, enclosed gardens surrounded by fences so that the children can enjoy themselves freely and safely, each providing them with different experiences; the top garden has a mud kitchen, logs, tyres, bits of tubing and lots more…so that the children can explore and develop their imaginations through their exploration of expressive language and creativity.

While the bottom garden, lends itself to supporting the children’s gross motor and fine motor skills

The staff also take full advantage of our lovely surroundings and go for frequent walks in and around the country lanes to see the horses, lambs… visit the local shops in the village and take the children to the Marina to feed the ducks.

Entry and exist to the nursery is very secure as the one entry point to the nursery has a magnetic release, only accessible by the practitioners and parents. In addition to this, CCTV cameras in all the children’s rooms and outdoor play area makes the nursery a safer place for your child.

There is an ample area for both staff and parents to park and parents are able to walk their children safely to and from nursery. Our attentiveness to this was reflected in our ‘Outstanding’ OFSTED report, stating:

‘High priority is given to protecting and safeguarding the welfare of the children.’

Good, nutritious meals are prepared on the premises by the nursery cook. They rotate on a 3 weekly cycle and are reviewed seasonally to provide variation. We aim to be as flexible as possible when catering for dietary requirements and this is discussed with the parents prior to the child starting nursery.

At Sandhills Alvechurch, we pride ourselves on the excellent relationships we have with the children and parents alike. We are a warm, caring and friendly team, whose priority is to ensure the children in our care receive a nurturing, stimulating and challenging environment to help them to flourish and develop into life long learners.

‘The quality of provision at Sandhills is excellent, largely due to the exceptional team in place. Children are encouraged to learn academic and social skills in a safe, friendly and caring Environment where they are also encouraged to enjoy being children and having fun.’

‘Rarely does a school get to influence a person’s life in such a positive way as a nursery can, Fostering optimism and confidence, providing knowledge that leads to success and being an outstanding role model. You have done all that and more. There was never a day that Andy or I worried about Ben. He loved his time with you all and you will be sorely missed. Sandhills will definitely be a hard act to follow’

Our transition to tablets for children’s learning journeys will only improve on this in the future.
