The Nursery will provide 8 rooms (3 baby rooms, 3 toddler rooms and 2 pre-school rooms). Each room has been purposely designed for a particular age group and will be well-equipped self-contained to a high standard with state of the art resources and the children on the ground floor will have access to their own outdoor play space in addition to the a acre of outside classroom and outdoor physical area. The nursery will have a parent room, library, reflections room, children’s kitchen area in the pre-school room and CCTV in all areas.

In addition to Early Years Foundation Stage, Sandhills Wolverhampton aims to offer an outstanding and welcoming “home from home” environment using the innovative Reggio Emilia approach to education, which will allow the children to use their own natural curiosity and energy to help guide their own development. We believe that this approach will ensure that children at Sandhills, Wolverhampton have enough opportunities to develop their potential. We value each child as strong, capable and resilient; this allows our Nursery to adapt this philosophy to create the best environment for the children to learn and develop in. The Reggio Emilia philosophy states that there are a hundred different ways that children use to think, discover and learn new skills on a day to day basis. Sandhills, Wolverhampton aims to allow children to use their different ways of learning to make sure that each child has the chance to learn something new and develop their potential in a way that they find interesting.

Our staff observe our children and listen to their questions and stories to find out what interests each child. This information is then used by our practitioners as part of In The Moment Planning to provide children with provocations to explore their interests further which makes learning more enjoyable for children. Children's interests and needs shape and change the environment around them - as practitioners implement and follow up children's interests.

All meals are produced by our cook on site and our menus are reviewed regularly to ensure that we provide a healthy and balanced diet. We provide the children with breakfast, mid-morning rolling snack, lunch and afternoon snack. The children also have access to water all day, milk with mid-morning snack and fruit juice is offered at afternoon snack.

We hope to continually update you with the progress of the new build although we anticipate that it will be ready for opening in February/March 2019.
