Our Barnt Green Nursery

Sandhills Day Nursery, Barnt Green is safe, secure, friendly and welcoming and provides a very homely environment. The nursery is situated in a small village on the outskirts of Birmingham and in walking distance of the local play area, shops and local first school.

The nursery operates from 5 rooms in a converted house, which has access to three outdoor spaces. It is one of our smaller nurseries out of the five nurseries, however there is a feeling of home from home which feels very cosy and provides plenty of space and opportunities for the children to learn and develop.

Within our small team at Sandhills Barnt Green, we share an excellent knowledge base of child development and are an experienced team, with some of our staff members having been here for over 10 years.

Our practitioners are friendly, caring, and professional and have a real passion for childcare.

At the nursery safeguarding is of paramount importance and the nursery follows effective, safer recruitment procedures, to ensure all staff employed are suitable to work with children. All of the staff are DBS checked and are qualified or working towards a childcare qualification.

At nursery we forge good relationships and bonds with the children and parents alike. This is done, by providing a calm and friendly environment where children are able to flourish, be happy, confident and enjoy themselves. Children arrive at nursery by being greeted by the same friendly faces of our staff team. The staff team are always polite and motivated and provide a calming and welcoming atmosphere. Due to the size of the nursery, the children and parents get to know us on a professional and friendly basis. Positive and strong relationships are built up between the practitioners, parents and children. The children feel settled upon arrival when left with key staff and children start the settling in process in a homely atmosphere provided by the staff at the nursery.

The nursery promotes healthy practices via a range of activities to include healthy lifestyle, healthy eating and regular exercise. We include the importance of keeping active in nursery routines and planning. We provide opportunities for the children indoors and outdoors ie. soft play, music, dance, exercises, climbing apparatus, gross motor skills, racing games and provide resources to support this using balls, bats, hoops, bikes.. etc. We understand and reinforce the children to have regular outdoor experiences in all weathers, on a daily basis for fresh air and space for children to move freely.

At nursery we are committed to providing a safe environment, high quality care and educational experiences for all the children.

Parent Testimonial

  • It's been worth every penny spent
My daughter has been there 2 years now and enjoys every day to the point she asks me now, when is it time for school!? (she means nursery, I call it school) She's come on leaps and bounds and I can only praise the staff there as to helping her over the last two years. It's been worth every penny spent. When the time comes for my daughter to go to school it will be a sad time for us leaving Sandhills nursery.

  • Thank you for caring
Putting Charlie into nursery was a big step for me , the moment I walked through the door I automatically felt comfortable and knew Charlie would be happy and well cared for of which he certainly is. Thank you for caring for Charlie and ensuring he is kept safe and happy while I am at work.

  • It's been wonderful journey
My little girl leaves Sandhills after 4 happy years. I have to say the care has been outstanding throughout. Consistency in nursery staff, activities and efforts made to nurture the children has been at the highest level in all the key stages, from the baby room upwards. It's been wonderful journey and a massive thanks for all you have done for Arabella.

  • Really professional
I have experienced lots of different nurseries and Sandhills Barnt Green nails it. It is small enough that the staff really know and care about the kids but still really professional.

  • Is a lovely intimate nursery
Sandhills Barnt Green is a lovely intimate nursery. It's small size is a benefit; staff know all the children by name and all the children get to interact with each other, both older and younger, at times during the day. The environment is very home-like and all the children are happy, secure and stimulated. We visited a lot of local nurseries before choosing Sandhills and I continue to feel we made exactly the right choice. Our son thrives there; developing great social skills, confidence and a love of singing rhymes!

  • The staff are amazing
I was making the biggest decision of my life, who do I leave my baby daughter with before I go back to work! I visited many nurseries to see who we was both comfortable with... Sandhills ticked all the boxes. They offered settling in hours / days, and are very welcoming. The hours suited us perfectly as I didn't need a full day. They help me when I need more hours or days and it's never to much trouble. The staff are amazing and so happy to see all children. They comfort them when needed and also teach them manners.
